For The Love Of Information Technology
Matthew 6:21: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Born and raised up in Kidica – a very small remote village in Mubende district of Uganda East Africa from a very humble family, passion has carried my love for spreading the gospel of reaching out to the most vulnerable communities with access to ICT related skills.
I’m Noah Kirigwajjo the founder of Novus Terra Digital Hub. Holding a bachelor in computer science Makerere, Masters in science of the web UNICAF Zambia and science in cyber security UNICAF Zambia. At the age of 9 years, my desire to become educated grew after being inspired by Dr. Kefa Ssempangi. He helped very many street children in Uganda get off the streets by educating them and giving them shelter. I got to know that highly educated and learned people could help change the lives of the most miserable people. And from then I could not wait to be just like him! He really inspired me to rise to the next level; to get educated and help my people around me and especially those with lost hope.
Acts 20:35: “In every way I’ve shown you that it is necessary to help the weak by laboring like this and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, because he said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Digital Gap Bridge was started to help vulnerable young boys and girls from very humble background get ICT skills. Just like the founder was empowered technologically; it was that my desire to see people below him also making it in life has pushed me into learning more- to know more as to give out the best to them. As he strives to bridge the digital gap between the less privileged and the more privileged, Digital Gap Bridge have so far successfully managed to boost more 170 young men into the field of ICT.
Mark 16:15: “He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” With a seminary background from Sacred Heart Seminary Mubende (2004-2007), my heart has always been beating for services. And I have always desired to give no matter how long it has taken me to get. This has always driven me! Service has put me down to my knees and hence desiring so much to learn; to know more about my field and how much I can help my people in my community get boosted. With the high rates of change technologically, people in the rural areas of Uganda are left out technologically. In 2012, we conducted a survey across more than 200 households, revealing a significant gap in computer knowledge. Astonishingly, over 90% of the households had no familiarity with computers whatsoever, underlining the need for digital literacy initiatives. Only a mere 5% of respondents displayed limited exposure to computer knowledge.
Most of them have no access to information simply because they don’t know how to use the technologically related devices. Unless we raise out our hands for them, they will still be left behind. Here I am to spread the ICT gospel!
Luke 11:33: “No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light.” With this knowledge at hand, we are always be able to teach the people around me how to access information and related skills through the use of the internet. It is right that people want to learn to use communication but many have no idea about the damage that is associated with the use of the internet and the network. So Novus Terra digital hub has come out to eradicate such ignorance, through it’s dedicated efforts of empowering Individuals with skills of computer to wrestle with this world of technology.
As previously mentioned, the Novus Terra Digital Hub has effectively extended its considerable support to uplift a multitude of less privileged civilians, propelling them towards their pinnacle of success. However, despite the achievements thus far, Novus Terra acknowledges that there remains a substantial journey ahead. With a proposed budget of $450,000, the organization aims to significantly expand its efforts in Uganda and Africa, covering a broader spectrum of goals aimed at empowering individuals and communities through technology and collaboration. This financial commitment underscores Novus Terra’s dedication to making a lasting impact on the region’s development and progress.
