Novus Terra Digital Hub Is Giving Us Hope
My name is Liuere Ndagane, and I was born in the lands of Congo. However, due to the war in Congo in 2019, my family and I were forced to flee and seek refuge in Uganda. It was a treacherous journey that took us three weeks to trek through Congo, with the constant sounds of guns and the fear for our lives. We carried our children with us, and it was a challenging and painful experience.
Upon reaching Uganda, we had no idea what awaited us. We were in a new land, unfamiliar with the area and without any relatives or friends to rely on. We had lost all our property in the war and had no means of communication with our loved ones. We became refugees, and the feeling of being uprooted and helpless was overwhelming. We had to keep moving day and night, often sleeping on the roads with nowhere to rest.
In April 2020, after more than 100 days of walking, we arrived in Mityana, Uganda. Pastor Birungi provided us with shelter, but the number of people in our family was too large for him to sustain. Our situation seemed dire until May 2021 when Digital Gap Bridge came to our aid. They stepped in and started helping us by renting a house where we now live.
Novus Terra has been a beacon of hope for us. They not only provided us with a place to live but also recognized the importance of education for our children. They have taken on the responsibility of educating our children, covering their school fees and providing them with necessary materials. Their dedication lies in supporting children who have lost hope and ensuring they have access to education.
We are deeply grateful to Novus Terra for their support and for showing us that there is still kindness and compassion in the world. They have given our children a chance at a brighter future, and we will forever cherish their generosity.
